no, listen

CreativeShocker was a moniker I came up with, while responding to a friend; when he said, " Dude ! your creativity is shocking ! " 2006 was a different time and a different age. I was here there and everywhere. Writing was the Eye of Sauron. The stage was set for the emergence of the above writ moniker.

What if 2006 was my crowning moment ? ( I will not delude myself into thinking I'm some Steve Jobs to be consistently delivering hit after hit after hit.) Because with advancing age I ponder a lot before committing pen on paper. Charmed  by Earnest Hemingway's terse and succinct writing I tried to mimic his style and often end up with copious un-witty and pointless one line plots that go no where ; then I read this article the other day.
How Ernest Hemingway the great American novelist became the literary equivalent of the Nike swoosh.

Writing was never for a means to make money or eek out a living. Like my mom said, " You've got high hopes marrying if you tell you are a writer." haha. It was rather an outlet for all the angst in my pangst. Six years latter i'm still raging and outraging though most of it is happily in the confines of my mind.

If you ask me getting published these days isn't hard; via the unconventional route that is  Young Writers Dazzle Publisher (Mom and Dad)

I often get the "YOU SHOULD WRITE A BOOK." response from people; I pooh-pooh at them the same way I do at at scenes in bollywood movies where out well muscled day trader hero makes an exotic seafood paella and his other two bro's and the chick remark, "You should become a Cook bro"

Here is my gripe. I don't think I am good enough or have stuff worth putting into a book. For me the art and the process of writing is sacrosanct. A book by me has to be a culmination of all that I've learned, absorbed and experienced. One mega tome of my existence. Or else as the wife suggested I could be a sell out and churn out a 'she shook me all night long' sexy book.

I think it's time for some spring cleaning. Hanging on to the 'Creative Shocker' tag isn't doing me any good in this era of micro blogging and wall postings. Like I said in 2009 I need to be a digital watch in a digital age rather than a Timex. What I need to do is re-invent,innovate and rewrite. Splice the old ring in the new. Maybe then a book.

“We start off with high hopes, then we bottle it. We realize that we’re all going to die, without really finding out the big answers. We develop all those long-winded ideas which just interpret the reality of our lives in different ways, without really extending our body of worthwhile knowledge, about the big things, the real things. Basically, we live a short disappointing life; and then we die. We fill up our lives with shite, things like careers and relationships to delude ourselves that it isn’t all totally pointless.” ― Irvine Welsh, Trainspotting
